Mt Concord Syrah 2014

Tasting Notes
Our barrel selected wine offers a perfume of rich dark plums with savoury elements from French oak. The concentrated palate reveals cassis and spices interwoven with liquorice. This cool climate syrah offers mouth-filling texture and structured tannins.
Vinification
Shiraz grapes selected from the Mt Concord block are handpicked, de-stemmed and crushed into open-top fermenters. The wine is then gently pressed and matured in French oak barriques for 18 months.

2014 Vintage
This vintage saw mild and warm conditions allowing for even ripening and a slightly earlier harvest. The vintage proved to be low yielding resulting in high quality and flavour concentrated grapes.

"Hand-picked, crushed and destemmed, open-fermented (including 1.67% of viognier), matured in French barriques for 18 months. Juicy red and black fruits coupled with French oak on the fragrant bouquet and medium-bodied palate; savoury, fine tannins on the finish provide balance and length."

Vineyard
22 ACRES OF MATURE VINES
Gioiello Estate's vineyard is located within the Yea Valley on the Goulburn River, on the lower reaches of 651 metre high Mt Concord. Our 22 acres of mature vines were planted on north facing slopes between 1987 and 1992.
