Tasting Notes

The 2018 Old Hill Chardonnay exhibits aromatics of brioche and cashews. On the palate excellent structure and length are complemented by flavours of brioche, citrus and hints of white peach.

The 2020 Old Hill Chardonnay reveals perfume notes of cashew and brioche. The textured palate offers flavours of brioche, lemon citrus and orange blossom.

The 2019 Jacks Falls Pinot Noir reveals rich perfume notes of dark cherry, lavender and spice. The textured palate offers flavours of rich spiced cherry integrated with savoury oak characteristics.

The 2020 Jacks Falls Pinot Noir reveals perfume notes of dark cherry, crushed violets and clove from the Abel clone while the Pommard clone provided great structure and length.

Vinification

The 2018 & 2020 Old Hill Chardonnay grapes were hand-picked and fermented in French oak barriques using wild yeast and left to mature on lees for 8 months.

The 2019 & 2020 Jacks Falls Pinot Noir Abel and Pommard clones of Pinot Noir grapes were hand-selected and gently destemmed without crushing into open-top fermenters. The skins were gently pressed and the wine racked to French barriques for maturation on lees with minimal handling.

Vintage

The 2018 Old Hill Chardonnay vintage saw some early season humid conditions but ended with a warm and dry summer resulting in an earlier than usual harvest date of the 21st of February.

The 2020 Old Hill Chardonnay vintage saw low crops with excellent flavours and balance.

The 2019 Jacks Falls Pinot Noir vintage saw dry and hot conditions across the property but the vineyard thrived. We saw an earlier harvest date of the 21st of February.

The 2020 Jacks Falls Pinot Noir vintage saw the pinot vines crop low. This parcel of fruit was harvested on the 26th of February and delivered a beautifully balanced wine.
