Tasting Notes
Our 2020 Old House Merlot exhibits perfumes of crushed autumn leaves and spice. On the palate crunchy red fruit blends with savoury black olive and warming spices.
Vinification
Merlot grapes are handpicked, de-stemmed and crushed into open-top fermenters. The wine is gently pressed and matured in French oak barriques for 18 months.

2020 Vintage
Our 2020 vintage saw low cropping across the vineyard. The fruit hand picked delivered gorgeous aromas and flavours and thus beautifully balanced wines. This parcel of merlot was picked on the 30th of March.
Wine Reviews
" This has been traditionally made after handpicking, open fermentation and gentle pressing to oak. Aromas of tobacco leaf and black fruits with a ripe dark fruit cake character. It's a cool climate style with generous supple fruit flavours supported with understated oak and fine tannins. Has a velvety palate texture. Cellar 7 years".

"After destemming this ripe Merlot fruit from the Upper Goulburn region, it will spend a year and a half, or thereabouts, maturing in French barriques. The colour here is a red/garnet , while the nose gives us plums ( and a touch of plum pudding ), spices and cherries of a rather attractive rustic note - the sort of thing that some love, while others are not so fond. If that is your style, this is your wine. An earthy, savoury style. There is a pleasingly supple texture here with gentle cherry notes to the fore, on the palate. Silky tannins and a persistent and well-crafted finish. Will provide pleasure for the next half dozen years, likely longer if you wish. One for the Merlot fans".
