Reserve Chardonnay 2007

$180.00 – $324.00

Tasting Notes

Golden straw in colour with a honeycomb and oak nose. A rich but soft palate of nectarine and spice. Has aged very well for a sixteen year old Chardonnay.

Vinification

Chardonnay grapes are hand picked and fermented in French oak barriques using wild yeast and left to mature on lees for eight months.

Winemaker: Steve Flamsteed

2007 Vintage

2007 was a very warm vintage in the midst of a drought and picking was early with smaller than normal crop but producing lots of flavours and higher alcohol levels.

Reviews

"Ripe pear and nectarine bouquet, with spicy oak; a very rich palate, with a slight mineral edge" $40 RRP

James Halliday, tasted March 2009.

"More austere and 'Chablis like', a faint taste of wood without that over heavy oakiness of the old fashioned OZ Chardonnays. Perhaps a bit of nutmeg in there? It was both subtle and classy! It has stood the test of time really well and it confirms my experience that a good Chardonnay will age well"

David ( Chardonnay buyer from Sydney ), tasted October 2023.
